19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
