Thousands Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Weather Systems

Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the state, generating powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact

Emergency response teams received 598 calls for help across the area, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

At the height on yesterday, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.

The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Public health experts alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
