World Series Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51M watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason performance after the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
